Giovanni “Gio” Harvey is a graduate student at the University at Albany, pursuing a Master's degree in Communications with a focus on political communication. He currently serves as the 44th President of the SUNY Student Assembly, representing students across 64 campuses in New York State, and is a Trustee of the State University of New York.

Born and raised in Utica, New York, Gio is committed to amplifying student voices in university decision-making. His leadership journey began at SUNY Fulton-Montgomery Community College (FMCC), where he earned an Associate's degree and held various leadership roles, including serving on the President’s Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. He then earned a Bachelor's degree in Communications and Information Design from SUNY Polytechnic Institute in 2023, where he was President of the Student Government Association and served as a Residential Assistant and EOP Peer Mentor.

In 2021, Gio co-founded the SUNY EOP Student Ambassador Program to enhance peer mentorship and networking for students from historically excluded backgrounds. Recognized for his exceptional leadership, he has held various roles within the SUNY Student Assembly, most recently serving as Chief of Staff before being elected President.

Jae Fish is an alumnus of both Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Polytechnic Institute. Currently, he is pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration at the University at Albany. At the 2024 SUNY SA Spring Conference, Jae was re-elected to a second term as Vice President. His academic journey reflects his unwavering commitment to leadership and public service, as he continues to build on a strong foundation of educational and professional achievements.

 

Throughout his academic career, Jae has demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities. He has served as the Undergraduate Representative for Doctoral Granting Institutions (DGI) and Caucus Chair, roles in which he advocated for the interests of undergraduate students within the SUNY system. Additionally, Jae’s tenure as Vice President of the SUNY Student Assembly highlighted his dedication to student governance and policy-making for students across 64 campuses. His leadership was further evidenced during his two-year term as Student Government President at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, where he spearheaded initiatives to enhance the student experience and foster a vibrant campus community.

 

Beyond his formal roles, Jae is known for his proactive approach to addressing student needs and his commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment. His passion for public service and advocacy continues to drive him as he advances his studies at UAlbany.

LOTUS TAYLOR

Lotus Taylor is a graduate of SUNY Westchester Community College. She is currently a junior at Binghamton University. She is passionate about taking care of the “Whole Student”, implementing change to further the supports outside of the classroom for all of our students. She served as Student Government Association President at SUNY WCC. At SUNY WCC, she implemented a program providing free period products to all students. She also facilitated an entirely new partnership with a charity organization to provide support for student parents, clothing for students, and hygiene products. She graduated with an honors designated degree in Liberal Arts: Social sciences, and is now pursuing a bachelors in psychology with the intention of working in higher education to contribute to the increase of equitable access to higher education.

Hello! My name is Tega, and I am currently a Junior at SUNY Oswego. I firmly believe that "what you leave behind is not what is engraved on your stone monuments but what is woven into the lives of others." With this philosophy in mind, I am dedicated to serving as your Treasurer with a commitment to promoting financial transparency, equity, and accessibility.

In this role, my goal is to ensure that the financial operations of our organization are clear and open to all, fostering an environment where every student feels empowered and informed. I am here to advocate for the needs and concerns of the SUNY community, and I am always available to assist you in any way I can.
