Kate graduated from SUNY Oneonta in May of 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and minor in Women and Gender Studies. Kate is beginning her graduate studies this fall, pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy of the University at Albany.
Kate joined the SUNY Student Assembly last year when she served as the Director of Government Relations. Under her leadership, the SUNY Student Assembly produced its most comprehensive advocacy agenda to date, increased student engagement in the organization’s advocacy efforts, and elevated the SUNY Student Assembly’s presence at the state and federal levels.
Kate has always had the drive to address the unique issues impacting the LGBTQ+ community, with a particular focus on issues of gender equity and female empowerment. Her drive earned her the title “2019 Advocate of the Year,” granted by the SUNY Oneonta Women and Gender Studies Department for her work as an ally of the LGBTQ+ community. In her role as Vice President, Kate created the first committee in the history of the SUNY Student Assembly dedicated to tackling issues of gender inequality experienced by students throughout the SUNY System. She will oversee the Gender Equity Committee and its’ initiatives this year, as its’ members work to promote an inclusive environment for all.
Kate is a proud feminist and ally. She is dedicated to working as an advocate for the rights of people of all orientations and identities to live safely, openly and with full access to opportunity.
