Taryn began her higher education at Mohawk Valley Community College in the fall of 2017. Following up on a passion for community service that sparked in high school, she quickly became involved on campus as the Treasurer for the Student Government, student liaison to the Faculty Senate and the Auxiliary Services Committee, and member of various clubs and organizations including Phi Theta Kappa, Kids and Coaches, and the International Club. During her term as Treasurer, Taryn restructured the student appointment process to the vast amount of faculty and administrative committees, created the first-ever training materials for executive board members, and revolutionized the yearly budgeting process, changing the standard allotments for clubs for the first time in over 20 years.

Taryn attended her first Student Assembly conference in the spring of 2018, where she was elected to serve as one of six Community College Representatives for the 2018-19 academic year. In this capacity, she served on the Finance and Development Committee and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, and as Vice Chair of Community Colleges, Vice Chair of Rules, student liaison to the Faculty Council of Community Colleges, and student liaison to the Guided Pathways initiative. Taryn is a strong advocate for community college students and stood as a leader in the fight for floor funding. Now as a transfer student, she is excited to build a stronger relationship with student mobility departments to create a more seamless transfer process within the SUNY system.

In December of 2018, Taryn was approved by the Executive Committee to begin serving as the Coordinator of Campus Engagement, reporting directly to then-President Michael Braun on his senior leadership team. In this role, Taryn served as the point person for the Student Assembly liaisons across all 64 campuses, leading key initiatives like Higher Education Action Day and creating and executing the first-ever Week of SUNY SA.

In May of 2019, Taryn graduated from MVCC with associate degrees in Public Policy and Accounting. Taryn is now working as the Digital & Social Media Student Assistant at SUNY System Administration in the Government Relations & Marketing department, and is excited and humbled to continue serving the Student Assembly as Chief of Staff.
